What Is The Natural Golf Swing?

The natural golf swing is a training method that is loosely based on the philosophy of legendary player Moe Norman. He was well known for his ball striking ability and often compared to Ben Hogan.

Moe Norman was a Canadian golfer that won the Canadian Open 7 straight times and then once again 2 years afterwards. Also, he once hit 1,500 shots, from over 200 yards out, into a circle 30 yards in diameter in a single day.

The Natural Golf Swing consist of three components which include:

The Natural Golf Grip - this grip teaches you how to hold your clubs like you would hold a hammer. They say that this type of grip allows to perform a repeatable squaring of the clubface to the target at impact.

The Single Plane Setup - this setup allows your arms and club to get back to your address position naturally and efficiently during your swing on a single plane.

Drive Through The Ball - this component gets you to focus on driving through the ball and not at the ball. It shows you how to use the power source of leverage to control the direction of your shots.

Along with the golf lessons and instructions, they offer equipment specifically designed for the Natural Golf Swing system. They help you perform the natural grip and the single plane swing. The clubs are individually handmade and designed to your personal specifications. Although the special clubs are not required, they are highly recommended to speed up the learning.

The Natural Golf Swing System

Basically, what the system teaches is a wider stance, hammer type grips, and a swing through the ball motion on a single plane. If you need hands on training, you can find a certified Natural Golf certified instructor and school located in your area that can teach you the fundamentals of this swing.

There are also natural golf swing videos that you can purchased if you are not ready for personalized instruction.

Does Natural Golf Work?

Well, there are a lot of students who swear by this concept of the golf swing. Many believe that it has improved their accuracy and distance off the tee dramatically.  Also, some believers say that it helps them generate a powerful swing and helps reduce their golf handicap .

However, there are professional instructors who believe there are better alternatives. These individuals usually believe more in the conventional fundamentals of the swing.

I like the technique because it is simple, repeatable and easy to implement. My thing is, to achieve results, you must practice regardless of what method you choose.

Furthermore, for beginners you want something simple. You want to learn how to swing a golf club without all the complicated movements which make it difficult to understand.

You should do your homework when choosing a golf swing method to use. There are several guides on the market that will help simplify your swing such as:

  • The Simple Golf Swing System
  • Stack and Tilt Golf Swing
  • Peak Performance Golf
  • PurePoint Golf
  • and many others just to name a few.

Conclusion

If you are a beginner and limited on funds, you should try one of these swing methods. It is more affordable than a professional lesson and some of the more expensive golf swing trainers.

If funds are not the issue, I would seek professional instruction. Either one you choose will be a good investment and worth the money you spend.

As I stated earlier, practice is going to be the key to your successes or failures. Just keep at it and you will see results.
